The Duo
Beatriz is the “Ramirez” in Belt & Ramirez. Her principal teachers are David Bourns, Jamie Strefeler, and Stephen Taylor, who supervised her graduate studies as a scholarship student at Manhattan School of Music. Her mother is from Cuba and her father from Nicaragua, but at a molecular level she is Floridian. She loves heat, humidity, writing electronic music, and working on her garden.
By logical deduction, you’ve guessed that Chris is the Belt of Belt & Ramirez. His principal guitar teacher was Eladio Scharrón, but he has performed in masterclasses for and taken lessons with many of the leading guitarists in the US and Europe. Seems silly to list their names here. Recent performances include the Society for Electroacoustic Music in the US and an appearance with Contemporaneous at the MATA Festival in Brooklyn. Chris has also played electric guitar in bands like The Sugar Oaks and Night Fishing. He watches a lot of shows where people punch and kick each other and say snappy but predictable one-liners.

Christopher Belt, Guitar
Christopher Belt enjoys a a multi-faceted career as a performer, arts administrator, and educator. Based in Orlando, Florida, recent engagements include conducting the Alterity Chamber Orchestra in a performance of John Adams "Son of Chamber Symphony", a featured solo performance for the live taping of the nationally broadcast NPR program "Science Friday," and the premiere of an original new site-specific work for 60 guitarists that he composed and conducted.
In 2016, the Timucua Arts Foundation selected Chris to serve as the foundation's Executive Director. During his tenure the foundation has grown dramatically, received its first state and national grants, and was recommended in the New York Times "36 Hours In Orlando," (February, 2018).
As an educator, Chris teaches private classical guitar lessons and is on faculty at Valencia College where he teaches music theory.
Beatriz Ramirez, oboe
Beatriz Ramirez is a freelance oboist based in Orlando, Florida. She is a co-founder and performer in the Alterity Chamber Orchestra and outside of Belt & Ramirez, Beatriz performs in Answers and Lost Noises Office. Beatriz received her B.M. in 2012 from UCF studying with Jamie Strefeler and received her M.M. from the Manhattan School of Music in 2015 where she studied with Stephen Taylor.
